Often times, I see messages on instagram from people who tell me of their frustrations with friends and family who are not supportive of their goals.
In this article, I’ll be sharing what to do when you have unsupportive friends and family and some of my personal thoughts.
When Your Friends and Family are Unsupportive
First of all, its not your fault if your friends and family are unsupportive of your goals. People used to say '' they dont support me,my goals''. Just because others do not support you doesn’t mean that your goals are not worthwhile. If you love it you're gonna do whatever it takes to find a way to succeed.
People are afraid to think big. For example, maybe they are not interested in achieving bigger ambitions in life. Maybe they are only interested in following one set path in life without thinking of life’s possibilities.
Lets find out what the word ''unsupportive'' means:
*unsupportive*
not providing encouragement or emotional help.
"the family environment is unsupportive" we all know this.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO DEAL WITH UNSUPPORTIVE FAMILY MEMBERS

1)
Be Understanding :
Now that you’ve had some time to understand yourself, try to understand where your loved ones are coming from. They are hurt and may not be ready to trust you. The best thing you can do is stick to your recovery goals and show loved ones that you are fully committed. Over time, they may learn to forgive you and move on with the relationship. It’s possible they may not. Try to be empathetic.
2)
Avoid Fighting:
Arguing isn’t going to solve anything. In fact, it can put you in a dark place and increase your risk for relapse. Anyway, no one ever feels good after fighting. It only leads to shame, embarrassment and guilt, especially if you say something you regret. If you have confrontational people in your family, step away when things get heated. Keep cool – you’ll be glad you did.
3)
Keep Your Distance:
Sometimes, the best thing to do is distance yourself. Your recovery must come first. If someone is not being supportive, give them space. How do you know when this is the best approach to take? When a person is making you feel frustrated, unhappy or worse about the situation.
4)
Surround yourself with positive people:
Find people who want success as badly as you do, and work together with them. Surround yourself with people who want to become MORE. Those who inspire you, empower you, and push you be the best version of yourself, those who make you want to raise your standards, and those who make you believe in your capability to achieve greatness.
BUT, be very careful in choosing your comrades or fellas call it whatever you like because whether you like it or not, you unconsciously become like them. The people you choose will either help you or hold you back. There is nothing wrong with having friends. However, if your friends have no plans, goals, ambitions, or even dreams then it would be for the best if you reduced the time you spent with them.
*Back in high school i were doing the same mistake i thought i had good friends etc.. but I was nothing compare to what i'm today. What i mean by that, its a bit weird but i gonna say this. I felt a dejavu back then, that i had to remove all the friends from my life and other unsupportive people to unlock my potential and find my self. I was feeling that something had to change and very quick.
Why? because they held me back in life and they kept me in bad habits.
Reducing time spent with unproductive people is a sign of maturity. Do not feel guilty for this is not an act of selfishness or abandonment. You simply learned to get your priorities straight and decided to focus on success. Always keep in mind that your success is up to you, how you spend your time, and who you spend it with.
Focus your Energy on your Goals

At this point, it may be best to focus your energy on your goals and show them that you know what you’re doing via your actions and results, and not via verbal talk. Don’t spend too much time entertaining their fears, because you are just delaying your progress. Let your results do the talking
5 Ways to be more productive in the morning:
1)
Don’t Look at Your Phone in the First Hour of Your Day
Give yourself permission not to be reactive with your phone. By starting your day from a place where you are in control of what you do and when you do it, you will free up more cognitive energy to focus on the activities that give you the highest return in your work day.
2)
Take a Cold Shower
It is probably best if you keep the water temperature right down if you sing in the shower. Scientists have surprisingly discovered that there are benefits of keeping your showers cold.
Not all of the benefits directly relate to your daily productivity, although they may have indirect long-term benefits. For instance, the scientists have discovered that your “brown fat” burns calories to keep you warm, so you lose weight in that cold shower. They also activate your immune system which strengthens your immunity and circulation.
More relevant to your daily productivity, cold showers increase your mood and alertness. Start the day with a cold shower and your blood will rush through your body, energizing you for the day.
3)
Smile More Often
I bet you never realized that simply smiling would help improve your daily productivity. However, there are good scientific reasons why smiling is good for us.For a start, smiling helps lower your heart rate, giving you all of the benefits of having a less-stressed heart. You are less likely to be stressed if you are smiling. Making a conscious effort to smile more is likely to reduce your stress levels.
4)
Write Down Your Goals, Plans and Deadlines
Physically writing down your daily goals or your biggest personal goals will make them more real. However, don’t tell everyone about them. Our minds mistake the talking for doing.
Make your goals real, plan out how you’re going to accomplish them, and create deadlines that force you to deliver on those objectives—that’s how you’ll be more productive in the long run.
5)
Continue learning
You do not have the ability to know everything. But, by continuing to learn every day, you become a greater asset not only in your own business, but to every client and customer you interact with. You also have the opportunity to learn better and more efficient ways to run your company. Dedicate at least 20 minutes a day to learning something new, whether that's by listening to a podcast, reading a book, or checking in on your favorite blog. Heck, just by reading this you are already getting your daily dose of learning.

Conclusion, we all have unsupportive people around us. It's in our hands if we let them hurt us with their words. As i said above, find yourself, find your value and let your results do the talking.
Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.
