Ectomorphs
Have super-fast metabolisms that burn calories almost too efficiently. This can prevent them from putting on weight easily, which creates a disadvantage for anyone aspiring to be a bodybuilder, and even a struggle for some to maintain a healthy body mass index. The ectomorph looking to maintain cardiovascular fitness for general health and longevity should only do cardio at a moderate pace for 30 minutes three times per week. Any more than this is going to be detrimental to the goal of gaining weight.
Characteristics:
Difficulty putting on muscle and fat. Ectomorphs’ resistance to putting on fat is often seen as an awesome benefit, but it can be a double-edged sword. It’s also harder for them to build muscle. These are the “hard gainers” at the gym who might have to work longer and harder to see results.
Extremely fast metabolism. Everyone has that friend who can eat practically anything and still not gain weight. Odds are, they’re an ectomorph!
Long limbs.
Narrow hips and clavicles. Ectomorphs have a lower bone mass overall than the other body types.
Small joints. It’s common for ectomorphs to have small wrists and ankles.
Very little muscle mass. The muscle ectomorphs do have a tendency to be lean and stringy.
Foods like avocados, olives, and nuts. Eating plenty of these foods will help give you the energy you need to work hard in the gym—without packing on fat.
*Ectomorphs should stay away from insulin-spiking foods and focus on protein, produce & healthy fats.
Mesomorphs:
The mesomorph is right in the middle of the spectrum, and can generally put on quality mass or reduce body fat relatively easily. Once the desired body composition and appearance is achieved, the mesomorph can usually just maintain, making sure to continue exercising regularly and living a healthy lifestyle.Mesomorphs don’t have a whole lot to worry about, whether they’re trying to lose weight, add muscle, or both. They do well on a balanced diet with plenty of vegetables, protein, and healthy fats. They can’t eat a ton of carbohydrates without gaining weight (lucky guys).
Characteristics:
A medium-sized frame and bone structure.
Long, round muscles.
Narrow waist.
Quick response to strength training. Mesomorphs can make fast progress in the gym, packing on muscle without adding fat.
Thinner joints.
Wide Clavicles.
Endomorphs:
The endomorph must focus on burning as many calories as possible to decrease body fat during strength training. Rest times should be kept as short as possible in between sets. Moderate weight should be used.Endomorphs can pack on an incredible amount of muscle. But those big gains in the gym might come at a cost if they aren’t careful about their diets.He/she has a tendency to gain fat easier and usually benefits from a slightly stricter diet. However, just as there can be a overweight ectomorph there can also be a skinny endomorph.
Characteristics:
A blocky build.
Difficulty losing excess fat.
Easily puts on both muscle and fat.
Hips as wide (or wider) than their clavicles.
Larger bone structure.
Short, thick arms and legs.
Thick rib cage.
Wide, thick joints.
Common quenstions:
1) Can your Somatotype change?
I make some quick research for this because a lot of people wanna know if its true
or not.
*You can significantly change your somatotype by getting leaner and more muscular. So there is no such thing as a doomed endomorph. Everyone can get lean. And while some people have to work harder than others to build muscle, virtually everyone can become more mesomorphic.
2) Can Ectomorphs get fat?
Ectomorphs have a fast metabolism, which is both a blessing and a curse. A high metabolism makes is easy to get lean, and it can seem as if they can eat whatever they want and not gain weight. (I'm ectomorphs, ''lucky'')
3) What diet is best for my body type?
Good choices include eggs, white meats, fish, beans, lentils, and high-protein dairy, like Greek yogurt. Fruits and vegetables (on one third of the plate) are part of a healthy diet for all body types. Choose whole fruits and vegetables with skins instead of processed varieties that contain added sugar or salt.
